Do you ever log into your email system, excited to see how much your list has grown from your latest freebie opt-in…only to see that the needle has barely moved?

You put all that effort into building a really cool lead magnet.

You followed all the advice you got on how to create something your ideal clients would love.

When I was just starting out in my coaching business, I created 8 different freebie opt-ins over the course of 5 months (some of them were live webinars, some were PDF downloads, some were teleseminars)…

And, how many people did I have on my list after that sh*t-ton of effort?

Not kidding: 247

Totally serious: probably about 45-50 of them were friends and family.

That means I got roughly 200 people in 5 months, using 8 different lead magnets.

And believe me when I tell you that I was sharing those opt-in links EVERYWHERE.

OUCH! It was REALLY painful.

Here’s what was even more painful…I only signed 2 clients from all that work.

And I couldn’t understand what the problem was…

I was doing my research on what my ideal clients wanted…and then I was creating it…and giving it away for free…

That’s what you’re supposed to do, right?

Right…except that I was missing a BIG piece of the puzzle.

Sure…if you look at what I was doing, it was textbook perfect for how to grow your list and book clients.

And I talk to so many coaches/consultants who are doing the exact same thing…and wondering why the hell it isn’t working.

And it’s NOT their fault.

They’re stuff is awesome…they’re giving away great advice/tips/teaching to help their ideal clients.

The problem is that they’re doing what EVERYONE is doing…and getting lost in the sea of sameness.

Because let’s face it…every single coach/consultant has some kind of freebie offering…most of them are posting on social media…and as you’ve probably noticed…they’re all running FB ads now, too.

So then why does it work for some of them and not others?
