Every week, I talk to coaches and consultants who are struggling to grow their online business and find clients. As you might expect, they’re super-frustrated…and they feel like they’ve been doing everything they’re “supposed to”…yet still no results.

And I totally get it…I’ve been there…

When I first took my coaching business online, I spent months posting in FB groups and getting literally NO response…well, okay – maybe I got the odd pity like here or there…but that was it!

It was totally tragic…and the whole time I was trying to figure out what I was missing or what I was doing wrong.

So that sent me into a tailspin of downloading every freebie known to man…and trying to inhale as much information as possible…all in the hopes that I’d find the magical solution.

Of course, in doing this, I discovered a ton of different strategies for finding clients…but none of them seemed to work for me…

And that’s when I realized…the problem isn’t really about the strategies I’m using to get clients (sure that’s part of it)…the real problem is that my foundation isn’t solid…so whatever I build on top of it, isn’t going to hold up.

Huh?

This is what I’m talking about…

Imagine a 3-legged stool for a moment – if one of those legs is broken or it’s not the right match to the others, the stool isn’t going to hold up, right?

It’s the same thing in your business…and here are the 3 legs you’ve got to make sure are PERFECTLY MATCHED and SOLID:

  1. Your Target Market. Yeah, yeah, yeah…we’ve all heard about getting clear on your ideal client ad nauseam…but for good reason. If you aren’t sure exactly who you’re serving, then you’ve got a broken leg on your stool. (And please don’t answer this by saying, “Oh but I know I can help everyone.” Sure, you can…but when you try talking to everyone, you’re talking to no one.)
  2. Your Message. How are you setting yourself apart from the MILLIONS of other coaches/consultants in your niche? And…have you actually done some competitive research to KNOW WITH CERTAINTY that your message and the way you’re delivering it actually resonates with your target market?
  3. Your Offer. How are you positioning yourself and your offer in the marketplace? Is your offer EXACTLY what your target market is looking for? And, what have you done to brand and distinguish your offer so that your ideal client knows exactly what you’re offering and how you can help her.

All too often, I see coaches/consultants who haven’t taken the time to really think through these 3 key foundational pieces. And, nearly always when they’re getting crickets online, it’s not because they’re not doing enough to find clients…it’s because their message and/or offer doesn’t match up to their target market.

So take the time to dig deep on this.

Do the research…and figure out what your market is buying so you can perfectly align your message and your offer to your ideal clients.

You’ll know when you get it right…because clients and cash will start coming your way.
